We have a few new items to report-
First- We now have Orange Blossom Mead from Misty Mountain Meadworks of Winchester, VA. This mead is made with honey collected from the bees that pollinate Florida’s orange groves. It is infused with that heavenly scent of orange blossoms. You get citrus, honey (of course) and a lot of floral notes up front and a bit of cinnamon spice on the finish. There is a very pleasant honey sweetness- this would be considered semi-dry for a mead. Best served chilled.
Second- It’s finally rose season and we have a wonderful new rose from France’s Languedoc-Roussillon region. H. B. Languedoc Rose is made from Grenache grapes grown around a coastal lagoon called the Etang de Thau. The bouquet is full of grapefruit, strawberries and currants. On the palate are watermelon and strawberry with a hint of citrus on the finish. This delicate and very balanced rose comes in a tres elegant bottle complete with glass stopper.
Muse Vineyards’ vintage 2020 rose is now in stock as is Burgo Viejo’s Rosado-
Burgo Viejo’s Rosado is from Spain’s Rioja region. It is made from Garnacha (Grenache) grapes and has an intense strawberry butter aroma. This smooth, jammy and full-bodied rose is full of strawberry and raspberry flavors. As you can see from the photo above the color is exquisite too. It is a deeper shade of pink than most roses- it’s almost a watermelon color- and has a stained glass effect when held up to the light
Also new in the wine cellar- Riebeek Cellars Pinotoge. This luscious, full-bodied red is full of red cherry and plum with a spicy finish. It’s smooth tannins makes it a great sipping wine on those unseasonably chilly spring nights- like we have been having a lot of this year.
Farmhouse Wines from Cline Cellars are back on the shelf. Farmhouse White is bright and tropical with notes of peach, mango and lemon curd. It is semi-dry and fruit forward. Farmhouse Red is full of black plum, cherry and cedar, velvety -smooth and medium-bodied.
We have some new art gracing our walls courtesy of Gloria Frigola. Gloria is one of the owners of Muse Orchard and as you can see the lovely landscapes surrounding their orchard are a big inspiration.
Also new: Ben the Border Collie” by Local Author Don Halstead. This charming children’s book tells the story of a brave border collie named Ben and his life’s journey which takes him from Woodstock, Vermont all the way to Woodstock, Virginia.
